dc.description | A daytime activity center for the intellectually disabled is a place that offers a variety of meaningful activities in a professional environment for adults who need extensive support and lack abilities to function independently. The main challenge in these institutions is to provide a safe environment for these activities to take place in.My project is an attempt to better facilitate for users with autism. This user group has special challenges regarding sensitivities to sensory impressions and social interaction, while having a special need for structure and routine. The building offers a clear overall spatial structure with sequential hierarchies from the common spaces to the individual user room, while relating to the environment in a way that simultaneously protects and challenges the user. | nb_NO |
