A Frame - for community, celebration and everyday life
Description
The everyday cultural activities of Fauske are made visible through a gathering space, where users become both audience and performer. The great hall showcases the extensive range of activities which was previously hidden away in cellars and classrooms. The wooden construction draws inspiration from the “fiskehjell” structures, an important part of the regions vernacular building tradition. The structure allows for an open plan suitable for large events, as well as nooks and corners that are easily inhabited by a single person. The great hall can be divided by sound dampening curtains, allowing for flexible use of the different levels. While non-specific in program, light conditions, ceiling heights, and size provide distinct spatial experiences which cater to a large range of activities.
