dc.description | S T A Y is an emergency accommodation in the center of Oslo, hosting homeless people in the evening/night. Ground floor is a day time-center for the people living on the street.
Address: Schweigaardsgate 41, 0191 Oslo
A low threshold-service.
Addressing those who have legal residence permits, but no welfare rights.
The project provides 300 sleeping places.
The design of the accommodation is based on a sleeping-capsule-principle, with associated logistics.
A space-efficient-solution, where you get the privacy you need for sleep.
To explore the balance between being primitive and comfortable, while allowing for an architectural and good experience.
Concept of:
overview and orientation / light / a strict logic and organisation / circulation / view / sight lines / noise
Background of the project:
People are living on the street with no safe places to sleep.
The already two existing emergency accommodations in Oslo are in poor conditions and do not meet the need of the amount of people.
There is a great need for better solutions, that takes this societal problem seriously.
There is not enough places for the people to stay, warm up and feel welcome.
A permanent solution for a non-permanent issue: The building will also work in the future, as a capsule-hotel, for tourists and travellers. | en_US |
