| dc.description | ARchive is an exploration of possibilities for engagement between pupils in The Norwegian Cultural Schoolbag (DKS) through the
intersection of Augmented Reality (AR) and the content of cultural collections.
It uses functional prototypes as a way to communicate ideas and explore interactive experiences. Workshops
with DKS pupils and related stakeholders serve as the driving motivation for prototype directions and
technical development.
As augmented reality is still in the early phase of adoption, numerous fundamental aspects of the
technology are in flux, from the reliability of the devices that facilitate AR, to the options developed for modern
software tools. This project also navigates this complex landscape and focuses on using cutting edge developments as a way to raise the visual quality of the
experiences and see how enhanced immersion affects engagement.
The current iteration of the project is produced in association with the National Museum, Follo Museum and Kulturtanken. These institutions have contributed
feedback, curation, and material that they want to see explored. Photogrammetry-derived models of objects from the collection from Roald Amundsen’s Home have allowed
us to explore high-fidelity AR, while a curated collection from the National Museum provides a way to see how engaging a diverse set of media can be.
The project presents the details of an evolving AR prototype through a series of workshops and technical
developments. The prototype itself will continue to be developed as part of ongoing partner collaborations. | en_US |
