As we are living in a time of accelerating population growth, where we are asked to densify our towns and replace social recreational spaces and green infrastructure with the built environment. It has left me wondering what other approach we could take towards reaching this ever-growing demand without sacrificing these valuable spaces as we do today. My thesis aims to create more housing in the form of vertical expansion of low-rise concrete apartment blocks from the 60s, without sacrificing the living standard of the existing residents, but rather by improving them.
