Proximity - The state of being near
Description
The premise of the investigation in this diploma is a subjective understanding of the term proximity, which is someone or something relating to and being in varying degrees of nearness to, someone or something else.
Working with the familiar format of a house, this project is an exploration of how the term proximity can be a generator for architecture.
The idea of being in proximity has been applied to the relational, spatial and constructive. The resulting house, which consists of spaces organized along two sides of a central wall, with an interior absent of doors and enclosed rooms, brings up questions of privacy and tolerance, nearness and distance, and of how we live together.
