| dc.description | The threshold areas between the city and the nature in Oslo are important, and decides the accessibility for the inhabitants to nature. The Fjord-city plan calls for a new take on the use of Oslo’s waterfront, seen as border between the fjord and the urban city. The Fjord-city plan ends at Frognerkilen, leaving Bestumkilen privatized and inaccessible for the public. I am looking at Bestumkilen in relation to the waterfront of the Oslofjord, and explore how the site can be more accessible for the public, but at the same time keep the areas identity and develop it by looking at existing activity and life in the area. With my project I wish to activate situations and thresholds found at the site in Bestumkilen. Situations as the program; rowing and padling clubs, the rowing and padling track, swimming and public leisure. The waterfront, and accessibility to the fjord. The coastal path going through the site, the landscape and its history. As well as different materiality found on the site. The place is for people who are already in the area, live nearby, just passing by, or people who come to participate in the activity. The structure can improve training and competition for rowers and padlers, but most important to offer a free space to for everyone in the area. | en_US |
