Working with Are Vesterlid and Hans Østhaug’s summer restaurant in Elverum, the project is a study of the relationship between the existing and the new. I aim to design functional and beautiful spaces for practice and performance while preserving existing qualities. Highly loved and praised for its playful and open architecture, the building was the scene of many summer dances and festivities throughout the 60’s and 70’s. Today, it has been long out of use due to a changing youth culture and noise restrictions. I want to show how it once again can be used in a way that benefits from the original architecture. By adding some rooms and changing others, I believe the building can offer valuable spaces for education in dance and become an attractive venue for other performances and cultural events.nb_NO
